The Goals of Our Security Measures
Re. www.cisco.com

I love details. Whenever I buy an album (yes, I still sometimes buy entire albums and not just singles on iTunes), I always read the liner notes. The liner notes are those blocks of text crammed into the last page of the CD booklet in what appears to be a font size of 1. It’s where you find out that the drummer recorded the album using a 14” brass and maple snare drum and that he wants to thank his third cousin twice removed for supplying the band with muffins.

And while I am tempted to get equally granular with this blog, more level-headed people here at Cisco remind me that, when it comes to explaining what we do and why we do it, it’s often better to come at things from a higher level.

One such person is Bob Hunt, manager of our exam development team, who recently wrote a wonderfully succinct explanation for the security precautions we take. He said that our security measures are designed to prevent a candidate from:
* Having someone take the test for him/her
* Relying on braindump material to pass an exam
* Receiving help or assistance during the exam from friends or testing center staff
* Passing an exam by guessing
