New Options for Data Center Training & Certification
Many networking professionals often ask me something like: “When will Cisco offer some training and certification for those of us who work in the data center?”
The answer is: Cisco already does!

Since 2007, Cisco has been expanding its options for training and certification in the data center, culminating in a series of new offerings made available this summer. These certifications were originally designed for Cisco’s channel partners as they design and support data center solutions for their clients—but you may find them helpful as you design and support your own internal data center.

If your interest is in planning and design, I would suggest looking at three distinct specialist certifications created for the data center architect: the Cisco Data Center Application Services Design Specialist, the
Cisco Data Center Networking Infrastructure Design Specialist, or the Cisco Data Center Storage Networking Design Specialist. Each equips you with the various skills needed to design a data center with Cisco’s latest and most advanced data center, storage, routing, switching, and security components.

If, on the other hand, you find yourself needing to support and maintain a data center, I would suggest looking at three separate specialist certifications created for individuals in data center operations: the Cisco Data Center Application Services Support Specialist, the Cisco Data Center Networking Infrastructure Support Specialist, or the Cisco Data Center Storage Networking Support Specialist. Each equips you with a variety of data center configuration and maintenance skills using Cisco equipment and corresponding Cisco operating systems.
